I've had this head for about 3 to 4 years now and it has held up great. I've beaten the hell out of that head. Lately the coating started wearing in the center but I'm still getting a new one. This head is strong and versatile.

that pretty much sums it up for me...i play rock and grunge...not the best head you can play for that kind of music. the only reason i have them is because they came on my yamaha stage custom advantage kit. they hold up pretty well...ive got a few dents in them, but im a beater. if you play jazz or mabye even lite rock, these heads *would* be great. but if you play rock, heavy rock, or grunge, try looking into remo emperors or pinstripes, or evans G2s or hydraulics.

These heads are not great for heavy/fast hitters. The coating started wearing off on one of my toms after a few days. And when they are hit too hard, they tend to distort a little bit, I'm gonna go with a 2 ply thicker head.

This head is definately my favorite snare head. I had it on my Pearl 13" brass piccolo snare and it just made the perfect sound, especially tuned really high. No matter what genre of music your involved in, you cant go wrong with this head.

"Remo Ambasador Coated Drum Heads"

I have been playing drums for many years and have experimented with many different drum heads from different manufacturer's. I keep coming back to the Remo coated ambassador heads, they have just enough ring (not too much) and a warmth to them that really brings out the best sound of the drum shell. Still my favorite drum head.

"Remo Ambassador On My Banjo Ukulele"
by Michael Vecellio - 3/18/2009 10:14:06 AM

When I was building my banjo ukulele, I decided to try a Remo 8-inch Ambassador Coated drum head for the banjo's head. I knew that many banjos use Remo heads so I thought that it would be a good choice. It turned out to be a perfect choice. The Remo head is very well constructed and also very strong. I was concerned that the pressure from the bango's bridge would be too much for the head. My concern turned out to be unfounded as the head has held up for many months without any problems. I made sure that I tightened down the banjo's brackets evenly to keep the pressure uniform along the edge of the head. It tightened up perfectly on the maple pot that I had made. It has maintained its firmness and I only had to retighten the head once. Although this is not the original intention of this product, it has another great application that I hope others can enjoy.

This is pretty much the best head made. I put them on the tops and bottoms of my toms and I'm always happy. As long as you know even a bit about tuning you'll be fine. I can't say I like them for kick or for live snare use(only because I hit too hard), but for studio snare, it's the way to go. If I had better touch, and could tune an open bass drum well, I'd use them on everything.

"REALLY GOOD SNARE!!!!"

This is an awesome snare. It has a sound that won't ring a lot and it is still sounding great after about 2 or 3 years. It has a good punch sound too. But I'm not sure how durable it is for people who hit really hard because I don't hit too hard.
