Why Buy

Remo's most sought-after PinStripe bass drumhead in an ebony incarnation.

Remo Ebony Series Pinstripe Bass Drumhead
Remo's popular PinStripe heads are made from two-plies of Remo Clear film and internally muffled to dampen both the high overtones and overall resonance. The result is a very focused, low pitched sound with moderate attack and response characteristics - ideal for creating a deeper, fatter, controlled drum sound in a variety of studio and live drumming situations. Ebony.

"Great tom heads, but as a bass head ..."

I've used Ebony Pinstripes on my toms for years, and love 'em. I recently decided to try one out as my new bass head. I had the original DW/Remo heads on my kick before this swap. I've switched them out and replaced them a few times, had 'em for ever, and they still sounded better than this new Ebony Pinstripe head. I bought this head thinking that it would do what my tom heads did for them -- give a lower, more focused, fast decaying overall sound. With these I got good low attack that did decay rapidly, but I also got an annoying, high-pitched ringing that didn't seem to decay at all. I tried every trick in my bag and picked up a few from friends, but no one I know could get this head to sound good. I'm a Remo guy (always have been, probably always will be) but this head was a disappointment. I have since settled on a Powerstroke 3 Clear and love it! If you want punchy lows, short sustain, and HUGE sound, then the Powerstroke 3 is my recommendation.

I got a new Mapex Orion Orbiter drumset recently in Oakland and one of the managers was setting up the set with remo Ebony pintstripe heads and the second I played with it I loved it.It can be loud or soft, great with any type of music. If you don't have a top of the line set, just put The remo pinstripe heads and it will sound top of the line.
