This head has an awesome sound. It's crisp! I've never broken one yet. If you're going to get a new head, get a black max!

Remo Black Max heads work great with my Pearl FFX marching snare. The sound and durability are worth the price for this head.

I used them last year on my Yamaha sfz snare for my school drumline. They were durable and they looked really cool too.

This head along with the White Max provides great snare response at low end. Great for low tuning or high tuning. Provides a much softer feel than the outdated Falam, just have to know how to tune it right.

These heads (along with the Whitemaxes) are unquestionably the best sounding heads out there. The only downside is that they don't last that long. They have a tendency to stretch to the point where the head no longer sounds that good, and will eventually rip under heavy strain. So when you aren't using this head, de-tune it to allow it to last longer, because it sounds really crisp when it's at the proper tension.

This drumhead works well for my line. The only problems with the heads are that it is hard to tune them, and if you mess up you really stand out. But other than that, these Heads are great. I recommend a coated FaLam 2 head on the bottom. This head is long lasting, and I've only had to change twice in one season. So if you are into marching and tight tuning, then this is the head for you.

I used to not like black drum heads because I was always told that they were hard to keep tuned, but a friend of mine talked me into getting one for my MST. I have grown to love this head and find that it's not that hard to keep tuned if you just keep it in good shape. I've had mine on for almost a year now and am just now replacing it for the first time, so it's definitely good quality.

A great head for any marching activity. Warm, dark sound, darker than the White Max and a little less articulate, best feel yet, much better than Falams (too old, too hard). Recommend this head with a clear marching ambassador snare side. Has a wide tuning range and a great design which has changed since the head first came out.

This head is perfect. I recommend this head on the batter side with a coated falam on the snare side. This is the setup I have on my pearl.
