I am currently returning to playing (for fun) after a 25 year absence. Back in my day a strip of felt or tape along with the standard muffler seemed to be the norm but wow!, this product is absolutely great! It has given my drums a totally new deep sound with no ring. .When used with moongel , you'll be amazed. The drawback is that when they arive, there may be a slight bow in the larger ones due to shipping and as a result, create a slight rattle. Over time, this will go away.

I have had the chance to play the Evans version of this sort of product as well...Where these rings work well is in a miking situation. The Evans version is a little thinner and hence is more toneful...However, if your kit is out of control with "ring" then go with these. I think these would be a best bet for any type of situation where you need to mike the kit and tame the ring down. These little pieces of plastic really do the trick... Almost too well...They can zap some of your attack/ response !

I just purchased the Remo control rings and could not believe the difference they made. I just purchased a new kit and they do not have the best drum heads. Being I didnt want to spend anymore money I was told to try the control rings. They take the ring out and the toms sound great. You can tune to any pitch and the control rings still make the difference.
