I am an avid Serato Scratch Live user and own both the regular SSL interface and the Rane TTM-57SL. I can tell you hands down that the TTM-57SL is worth every penny.
You get everything in one package: mixer, effects unit, MIDI-like control, and built-in Scratch Live interface. Having all these controls built in makes my rig less cumbersome; less cables to hook up = easier and faster setup.
The mixer build is top notch--definitely Rane quality, solid as a tank and sound quality is excellent, warm, and crisp. Choice of colors for the face of the mixer is a bit dark, so it can be hard to see labels in the dark--this is no problem, I use a cheap booklight to remedy this.
What I love most is the programmable buttons, knobs, and joysticks. You can pretty much assign every function within SSL to this in-house controller and improve your workflow. I find it easier to focus on mixing and connecting with the crowd because I can select and load tracks right from my mixer without even touching my laptop.
Also, when I want to travel light to a mobile gig I bring my 57 and a single turntable deck and the on-board controls allow me to manipulate a virtual deck. SWEET!
However, as much as I love this mixer it does have its downsides: the effects control. Using the 57's effects requires a steep learning curve and is not as intuitive as using dedicated effects hardware (i.e., Pioneer EFX-500).
Finally, I have to vouch for the guys at Rane and Serato--best customer service ever!! If you ever have any questions about SSL or the 57 the guys at the forum will help you out (http://scratchlive.net/forum)
In short, it's (comparable to) the Rane TTM-56 + built-in SSL interface + effects + programmable buttons. All in all, a great investment for any DJ who uses SSL as their main digital DJing software.
