NEW - "Great for harpers too!"

Love this throne! Due to it's ability to adjust, adjust, adjust -- including swivel factor, this seating has been a boon to my aching back compared to stationery models I've used. Just be careful not to fall over -- legs are VERY stable and secure, but the tri-pod factor can cause chair to tip if you're not careful. I added the back rest and it's very adjustable as well and provides the right support for relaxing and helps me maintain posture. In this chair I can tell when my posture is slacking and can correct immediately to negate any long-term effects. I play harp and love the swivel and height action as it helps me align into just the right posture. Too bad they don't sell backs for the other models!

I have one of these thrones in red and I love it. The shock absorbers in it allow you to bounce around, which is nice if you're getting into your music. The seat can go very low or very high for different drummers. Again Great throne. I also recommend the backrest too.

I bought this a week ago and was impressed when I first pulled it out of the box. I'm kind of big and this doesn't lose height like my old throne used to. It also has that nice bit of bounce to it which really adds to its comfort. It is an excellent throne.

When I got this throne about 4 years ago as a gift from my grandparents, I thought it was a pointless addition to my kit and could be no better than the regular old throne I was using at the time. Boy was I wrong. The seat itself is very nice and cushy and really fits the contours of your body pretty well. The backrest is also a really nice addition. The hydraulic lift works great and is really solid. The slight bouncing action is also great. There really isn't anything I don't like about it.

I've owned this Roc-n-Soc for approx. 9 years. I convinced myself that I could play better and longer if I had the best throne known to man. Still is as solid, comfortable, and bouncy as the day I brought it home. On the road it fits real nicely in my hardware case. I suppose I'll have to convince myself someday to purchase the optional backrest.

I've been drumming for 17 years and I have never felt comfort like this. This throne by far has the edge on long sets and gigs. I have minor back problems and this throne definitely spells "relief"!

This is an awesome drum throne, easy to adjust, great stability, and comfortable. You just need to pull the lever to raise/lower the seat height like a computer or desk chair, which is very convenient. The seat cushion is soft enough to cushion you, but firm enough to provide you with great support. It also has a little bit of bounce in the seat, which makes it feel a little softer without losing firmness for support. The bicycle seat shape cushion depends on your personal preference, but I think it helps free up my legs so I don't have to sit so far on the edge of my throne like I would with traditional seat cushions. I would say the Nitro is better suited for a practice setting, though, because removing the seat cushion from the base requires you to use a wrench (which comes with the throne) to loosen two screws, as opposed to a lot of other thrones where you can just loosen a knob with your hands. This just makes loading the throne into a trap case or other hardware case a little more difficult, but if this is not an issue for you, then disregard all that! Since it's got 3 legs, as most thrones do, it's pretty stable on most surfaces. If you're thinking of getting the backrest though, consider that with 3 legs, you'll be more likely to tip over while leaning back on it. You can put one leg directly behind you so you don't fall backwards, but I still think the Lunar model is better suited for use with a backrest. All in all, I am very happy with my throne, it looks great, has great functionality, and is way comfortable. Highly recommended!

"Best seat in the house"
by Rodney - 3/13/2009 3:00:41 PM

The seat is very comfortable, even after a few hours of playing. It seems a bit pricey but is well worth it - how much is a good office chair? The height adjustment is easy to use (just like an office chair) and the gas lift gives the seat a little bounce to help relieve compression on the spine while the seat shape gives your legs some room to move on the pedals. The comfort was most noticeable the morning after a long jam session. I tried other thrones that were either too firm, had a difficult height adjustment, or were too soft (you don't want to sink in while playing). I chose the standard Nitro which is plenty tall enough for most people. The NRX model is available for taller drummers. The standard 3 leg base is sturdy and folds down for transport unlike the Lunar model which is five legs and looks like an office chair without casters. I recommend the back rest as well, though one of the 3 legs needs to be directly behind you for safe use.

A friend recomended this throne to me so I thought I would give it a try. I use it playing the eyboard. Very comfortable! I like being able to simplely adjust the hight and I love the cush you feel when first getting on. This throne is solid and well made. I can't say anything negative about it. I would recomend it to anyone

Best throne my butt has ever sat on. It has a very comfortable seat and the lift system is very convenient. Now I don't need to loosen bolts to raise or lower the seat. I highly recommend this throne
