For people that know how to do professional recording.I must say, this microphone sounds amazing. AMAZING. The only thing is that it has a high boost, and some people's voices don't sound right with it. But for the 80% of people that do sound right, they sound incredible. Buy a good preamp and a good compressor and you shall not be dissapointed.

I bought this NTK from friend's recommendations and poring over published reviews; but was expecting something wonderful. We were not disappointed. It's put the EV RE27 on the back burner! This is the mic we choose first for V/O work; the built-in tube circuitry provides the warmth and the capsule has a smooth top-end 'excited' quality that gives it a very silky presence. Just delicious. The power supply is built like a piece of military hardware and a 30' cord comes standard, as does a very serviceable mic stand clip. The investment is in the electronics here, not in some flimsy useless flight case lunchbox. If you are looking for one great vocal mic, get one of these.

Do you sing? Buy this mic. There's been so much good press about these that its a wonder they're still available. The price is right, too. The NTK is a tube mic so it has a separate power supply and needs about 10 seconds or so to "warm up." The tube adds a warmth and presence that is desirable in recording human voice, especially vocals. I also use mine for voice overs with great results. Certain instruments might sound good recorded with this mic but I won't recommend it for anything but voice.

It's built like a tank. It's beautiful to hold and look at, and vocals and acoustic guitars sound so full and natural with a little bit of glitter (not hiss) that puts them just out ahead of the mix. And for people who can really sing, and loud, just check out the SPL. This mic can handle it all with no distortion ! Just beautiful sound. Go ahead and buy a Neumann. I'll spend the money left over for,...a boat?
