I bought this drum set about 4 years ago because it was the cheapest I could find. Now that I know alot more about drums, I've realized that the pulse drum sets come with features that most higher priced beginner sets don't have. The mounted toms come with isolation mounts (or rings that go around the toms to mount them to the bass drum). Most beginner sets just have holes drilled into the sides of the toms for the bass drum mounts to go through. The drums cannot resonate as much. and the cymbals actually sound like cymbals, not cheap pieces of circular shaped metal that most beginner drum sets come with. this set also comes with a crash/ride cymbal, which most sets don't include. They usually just come with the crash and hi hat cymbals. The snare drum stand actually has a basket to hold the drum, not just a cheap stand that eventually bends and becomes useless. The hi hat and bass drum pedals play much smoother than alot of beginner pedals I've played. I've seen alot of my friends drum sets made by other brands, such as Rogers,Verve, and Ludwig, but this one is a way better quality drum set and all the parts have lasted almost 4 years. I've never seen a drum set with this many features for the price. After I changed the drum heads to remo pinstripe heads I was commented on the sound quality by drummers with drum sets in the 900-1000 dollar price range. This is the best drum set for the price on the market. If you by this set, you wont be disappointed
