I've had several different types and brands of sax stands. This one is one of the best in over all quality. Sturdy, easy to use and folds up pretty flat for carrying and storage. I have two, one for alto and one for my tenor. They work great!

"Great stand! Even for curved soprano!"

Great stand that is compact, sturdy and stable. Fits my curved soprano (vintage Buescher and Conn). Cushioned bell support material grips bell nicely avoiding "surprises". The compact size allows me to carry it in my soprano case which is a converted leather briefcase. Very stable with alto or tenor. Highly recommended!

I've had a number of different sax stands over the years. The Pro Tec Stand is by far more compact, easy to use, and well built than any other I've used. I really like the fact that when I have my sax, Clarinet, and flute on the stand - I can pick the entire unit up and everything stays put. I also like how compact it is when folded up and stored.

This saxophone stand is 100% sturdy and all the metal parts do not come near your saxophone, so you do not have to worry about dents or scratches. The stand folds nice and small and is not too heavy.

I love this stand, it's sturdy and well built, all exspanding sections lock firmly in place and it folds up small enough to fit in my Protec case side pouch. I own two of them for alto & tenor, comes with a nice case with a draw string.

"Sturdy and Compact"

I bought this because I thought it might work for my curved soprano sax, and it does fit it nicely. The adjustments that this stand provides allow for a good fit for both my soprano and alto saxophones. The fact that it folds flat and is so sturdy are great extras that I hadn't even anticipated.

"Built to last, but needs a flute peg"

This is a nice design for a saxophone stand. The metal and rubber parts seem strong and well made. I expect this stand to work reliably for very long time. Note that you'll have to buy Protec's soprano and clarinet pegs; pegs from other manufacturers will not fit. The adjustable stand fits my tenor sax very well and securely. The design seems slightly less successful for the proportions of my alto but I'm still confident that the alto is held safely. My main disappointment is that Protec does not make a flute peg for this stand.

"Very Tight and Well Balanced Design"

I see no problem at all for holding a tenor sax and flute simultaneously. I purchased the clarinet/flute adapter and it holds the flute quite well, not as tightly as my stand-alone Excel flute stand, which weighs as much and is harder to carry than this Protec combination stand. The only source of instability in this stand I can see is if you hyperextended the main support arm beyond where it is intended to go. It would be possible to do if you were not paying attention to the fit of the extension arm. But, it gets so loose if you do that, it is pretty obvious something is wrong. There are three marker indentations on the heavily chrome plated extension double stantions that comprise the extendable upright arm. It has a soft "stop" there, but you could pull it out further. And if you do, it will wiggle quite obviously. Plus, you will raise your center of gravity more than necessary as well. Just treat it with the same attention you give your instrument already, and it will be easy to find a proper fit where the cradles are far from any keys, and the stability is more than adequate. Plus, the design allows you to fold it up really small. The only design improvement I would suggest would be a somewhat tighter fit on the spring loaded bullet-nosed pins that lock the legs and upright stantion in their extended positions. Otherwise, all of the moveable parts are heavy metal, sturdy and lock in place with no wobble whatsoever. The spring loaded pins, as they are, make it easy to open and close. And the amount of movement they allow is very slight. You would have to hit it pretty hard to knock it over.

I have used other stands and this one is the best! I've had to have repairs done on an instrument because the stand fell over, but not this one. It is VERY sturdy, and once you adjust it, none of the metal portions will touch or scratch your saxophone. If you don't put your sax on properly, I am sure it will fall over... just use some common sense! It really is a good deal for the price I paid!

Compact design makes it more portable. Let's face it as musicians we all have lots of stuff to carry around. This stand makes this a little easier.
