I've had a Protec contoured case for about 7 years now, and it has served me well. Good: has the convenience of a gig bag with a great deal more protection. Has that handy little side pouch that just holds a straight mute as well as some more junk. The padded shoulder strap is well suited for carrying the case for extended periods of time. Bad: the wood shell has started to break down over the years, and is broken in a number of places, but doesn't really affect the protectiveness of the case. The worst thing that has happened to me is that my trumpet slides around a bit length wise, and I somehow got a mystery curl in my bell from this. And the side pocket can only hold a straight mute, not a cup or Harmon. Other than that, a great product
This is a very good case. I like it better than the one I used to have. The case is very compact and it protects. It can even fit in my locker if there is nothing in there!

I have carried my trumpet in a ProTec case since the day I bought my new horn. This case has an end handle - most useful when pulling the case out of the car trunk. The main handle is 2 pieces of semi-rigid plastic which fit together, not the webbing and velcro flap style you might be accustomed to seeing. It has the webbing loops for the ProTec backpack straps if you have them. You will need to carry your mutes separately - get a ProTec mute bag! Buy this case if you're looking to go smaller and lighter but you can still be confident that your instrument is protected. ALL my instruments are in ProTec cases, and being a music teacher, I have a LOT of instruments!
