This is an excellent mic preamp for the money. Not too much noise, and the tube tone is great. I couldn't believe how much this little box warmed up just about anything I plugged into it. It also does an excellent job as a direct box. Just buy it. You won't regret it.

OK. I purchased this strictly for vocals and I have to say for the price tag I am impressed to the fullest. This unit adds warmth to your vocals as soon as you plug it and it sounds very natural which is very important to me. As a HipHop producer most of my clients love this sound and so do I. Very simple to use plus it seems to work even before you turn up the drive. It has plenty of gain for anyone in any situation so don't be fooled by the price tag. This is quality not crap! By far the best in its price range. I plan on buying the rest of the units that accompany this one, I cant wait. If your worried about budget this is the solution!

This is not an Avalon, but for the price it is an amazingly good instrument preamp. There is a fair amount of clean gain and as much or as little tube color as you desire. I was not crazy about it on vocal mic's, but it sound great on direct instruments and mic'd amps. The thing looks cool too. Biggest drawbacks, wall wart and no power switch. Just remember it's dirt cheap and sounds like it should cost four times the price.
