I purchased this item for my 7 year old daughter. I have taught piano for several years, and am always interested in learning and incorporating new methods that simplify ways to teach music to include reading it and simplifying theory. Since I had already covered the basics with her on my acoustic piano using the note names, the color method was useless for her. It would probably be better for a younger child that also had no prior exposure to music. My only challenge now is to get her to practice without making it a chore! I like the way it teaches timing, and the adding or subtracting the accompaniment music. It also has many songs that she is familiar with. So far so good!
