This Is The Best Drum. The Sound is Great. I do recommend that you buy a Marching drum key also. Maintenance is really easy on this drum.

I am currently marching snare for the Blue Knights drum and bugle corps and I give these drums my personal endorsement. The hardware is of excellent quality and strength and allows for a huge variety of tuning preferences. The free-floating maple shells not only sound cleaner and allow for more resonance, but are also a breeze when it comes to maintenance. Just pull the shell out and wipe it. The bars on the bottom of the drum are also an ingenious design as they protect the snares and strainer from sustaining damage. I would recommend this drum to anyone, for any purpose. Pearl also makes an indoor drum for indoor purposes, or for beginning drummers (the weight and price numbers are significantly reduced).

the snare is ultra-light weight. its easy to move from place to place. the way it feels when u march will just blow u away. the pearl ffx is the best marching snare drum i have ever marched with. i wouldn't choose any other snare over it. without this snare i wouldn't have made it this far in life. i carry the drum everywhere i go. so i can just pull it out and start showing it off at any time. i have encouraged a lot of my friends to buy this specific marching drum and they feel the same way i do about it.

I've been playing this type of snare drum for 3 years now, but my snare has been in service for about 2 generations before me, and is still in excellent condition. This drum sounds incredible and doesn't have to be tuned that often but is easy to tune. I recommend this type of Pearl drum to other snare drum players around the world! Thank you.

After all the drums that have been thrown at me by Corp and High School units, this one stands up to the cruel treatment by students and member alike. Surprisingly, it took a drop from the top of the ramp of our High School's semi-trailer 2 seasons ago. Be sure to replace the head w/your favorite brand and type.

The Pearl FFX snare is a very good marching snare drum, it has a very nice sound and is very easy to work with (changing out heads, adjusting the snares, etc.) The shells and the rim are very strong. Not to mention the nice finish on the shell! This has been one of the best drums I've played, and the price is very competitive.

I have played this snare. I think the sound is quite tight that easy to make buzz stroke rolls on. I also like the weight. It's very light, great for marching.
