Guitar preferences are so subjective. I've owned everything from a Suburst Les Paul to a Schecter Omen 6, from an Ibanez RG760 to an American Strat, and they were all good guitars. Some better than others. For the money, the PRS SE 24 is the best deal out there in my opinion. I think Schecter makes some great guitars in this price range, but there is a difference and you feel it and hear it when you play the SE 24. Sweet tone, thin wide neck, great action, and I haven't experienced any tuning problems that are not common to every other guitar--that is, there is no flaw in design that causes the guitar to go out of tune. Banging around on the tremelo is going to knock any guitar out of tune, locking tuners or not. I've always thought this had as much to do with the strings stretching as it does with the tuners anyway. Like others, I like the flat top as opposed to the Custom 24's contoured top. It doesn't look as nice, but I prefer the playability. You could switch the pickups and play around with the sound, but I don't know why you would want to. It sounds great with a dynamic range of tone and energy right out of the box. I bought the Cherry model and it is beautiful. The pics here don't quite capture the true color and finish. I bought a 'used' model here. Arrived with not as much as a piece of lint on it. Perfect. So, I liked the Strat better than the Les Paul, the Ibanez better than either one of them (I know, everyone gasps, but the Ibanez with a couple of Seymour pickups sounded better and definitely played better than either), but the SE 24 is my favorite yet. It plays great, sounds great, and is great quality. What more could you ask for?
