it's a straight cymbal stand, it can only do what a straight stand can do, but there are no short comings. it's not too anything or not enough anything, it's a perfect stand for when you just need one add-on. and it's for a really cheap price!!!

I picked up this stand around 4 years ago, I use it for my 22 inch ride cymbal. It has always worked as well as the first day I recieved it. I don't usually hit my large ride like a crash but for a loud effect at times I really hit it, this stand has never moved. It is great at any price.

I am not a drummer, just have a set for my studio. This stand is an entry level straight stand. It serves a purpose and does it well enough. I don't think it would take a lot of road abuse, but that depends on how you treat your equipment.

I recently joined my high school's marching band and purchased a bass drum practice pad that mounts onto a cymbal stand. Great–except that I didn't have a cymbal stand lying around! So I scoured the internet to try and find a cheap but usable cymbal stand. Maybe I didn't look hard enough, but it was tough to find anything (even a used stand within close proximity to my house) cheaper than this one. I think that the biggest feature of this stand isn't a feature at all–it's the price. Given the price, you shouldn't expect too much. Maybe it's just me, but I don't see any way to make this cymbal stand better for holding a cymbal! I suppose the frame might require additional support to hold very heavy cymbals, but I'm not a percussion/band guy (orchestra, actually...which makes the move to drumline an interesting one!), so I can't give any advice there. As far as my use of the stand goes, it's great for what I need. My practice pad mounts right into the stand, and it's sturdy enough not to rock back and forth while I'm banging away. My only grip with this stand is the height. Take a look at the picture. Do you see how half-way up the (extended) shaft is a knob? Well, the entire piece above that ONLY seems to work for holding a cymbal. Which means that in order to mount my practice pad, I need to remove the top half of the shaft. After doing so, the top of the stand (or rather, the top of the practice pad) is a few inches short of my waist. That's a problem, because bass drums aren't played while sitting down on the floor (first of all: ouch. second of all: that would make for some interesting marching). At first, I thought about looking for some sort of an extension tube from a hardware store, but I found that just placing the stand on a folding chair gets the practice pad up to the right height. If you're looking for a cheap stand and your cymbal isn't too heavy, then this is the best possible option for you. If you're looking to mount something onto the stand, OTHER than a cymbal, and don't mind propping the stand up on a chair, then this is also a great solution for you. Over all, factoring in the price, I think that this stand is good enough to receive a rating of 3 stars–average.
