I bought this stand to use with a lap steel. I lay a piece of pine shelving covered with a thin pad, ie. a folded towel and lay the lap steel on it. I've several steels so this is an inexpensive way to convert them to console steels. The adjustable legs and a proper chair make for a very comfortable playing experience. It's very portable and I can set up quickly anywhere I want to play. A lot of bang for the buck. I recommend it highly.
