I bought this for a special church event that I needed an upright sound. I strung it with Ernie Ball Flatwound strings and got TONS of comments on how it sounded so much like an upright bass. I bought this for my wife for her birthday and she was ecstatic! She was in a semi-professional band and loves having a bass that she can play outside on the porch without having to lug around wires and an amp! The sound is great whether it is plugged in or not! The low D rumbles without the buzzing she had with her last acoustic bass, which had frets.This was a great buy and not a bad price!
