This is really a fantastic instrument! I tried a number of acoustic basses in a variety of price ranges, including a Dean Playmate 5-string, a Fender BG-31, an Ibanez Exotic Woods 5-string, a Breedlove Atlas, and even a Martin B-1. Out of all of these, the Club Custom 5-string came out on top. It's a gorgeous looking bass (I get a lot of compliments on it) and it really projects well. It’s loud and clean, the lows are very vibrant and rich, and it sounds fantastic when I either plug it into a PA or into my bass rig. I was most impressed by the clarity of the low B string. I do have reservations about the instrument being shipped with copper wound strings, but other than that, it's an excellent bass that plays and sounds better than instruments three times as expensive. I love the Fishman active on-board preamp too.
