I just bought this mpc about a month ago. So far, it's been great. I can get a nice big FAT bari tone as well as a silky smooth note. Compared to the Selmer or the Vandoren, this one has the better tone quality.
I have played on a Meyer 6 medium for the past 4 years and it has treated me well. It gives you a nice smooth tone and some projection, however for a more advanced big band ensemble where the overall volume of the band is vastly louder, a metal mouthpiece would be a better bet. It's great for beginning and intermediate players.
Great range. Good for playing soft and being heard as well, not to mention the sound.
This mouth piece is great, the only thing is that its a bit too dark for me and it has this rattling noise i really hate, though its a great mouthpiece to use but I reccomend you go with the Berg Larsen 95/2. Other than that, I reallu like this mouthpiece.
From my amateur experience of playing several different mouthpieces, and talking to professionals, I would recommend a Meyer mouthpiece. It is narrower than the other mouthpieces I've played, reminding me of a metal mouthpiece in the way it sits in my mouth. The price is really good, as good as the smooth sound the Meyer makes.
