This guitar is a wonderful value. Punchy bass, crisp highs, and long sustain all brought on by it's solid wood construction. You can't beat this guitar for the price.

This was my first guitar. I was just borrowing the guitar at first, but after 6 months, my mom decided to get it for me as a birthday present. I love this guitar... it plays like a dream and has an equally great bass and treble and it sounds great with an under-the-bridge pickup installed in it. Anyone considering buying a guitar should take a close look at the D-15, because it sounds as nice as anything else out there that I've played. (I like this guitar more than my friend's $1900 Taylor, not to slam Taylor or anything, and it sounds just as nice as his.)

I researched this guitar quite a bit before buying. I tested out a couple of them at the local guitar store, but they wanted too much money for it, so I ordered instead from Music123.com for less (price matched) with free shipping. They were very prompt with their delivery, and when I took the guitar out of its case, it sounded better than the ones at my local store. The guitar itself is has a mellow "smokey" tone to it, not bright like spruce. It suits my playing needs very well. A+ rating for Music123.com and the Martin D-15

I read the many reviews of the D15, all of which sang its praises. Now I can add my own. This guitar is just wonderful. It's a thing of beauty to look at, without being ostentatious. It has incredible volume and clarity of tone. I play two kinds of music, folk and Hawaiian slack key guitar, and my D15 makes practicing sound like a concert. It's a very comfortable guitar to play, and seems to carry a touch of magic in the fretboard. My fingerwork is easier and more sure on some really complex licks, it's like the guitar is guiding my fingers and boosting my command of tempo and soul. I was already playing a lot but it's really hard to put this guitar down once you start playing. Unless you're looking for a prestige guitar of really high concert value, I advise you simply to buy this guitar and be done with it. It would be very hard to imagine anything under the $3,000 range coming even close in overall quality.

I purchased this with concerns about tone quality. It was a choice between this D15 Martin or a Taylor around the same price range. The D15 stole my heart. Bright, yet full body sound. I can't believe how light weight it actually is. So glad I went with a Martin.

I purchased my new Martin D15 in April from Music123. A great price on a great acoustic guitar. The tone of this all wood mahogany player is typical Martin... Awesome! This is a no frills acoustic in cosmetics only. I cannot overemphasize the tone of this finely crafted machine. The highs have a good ring and the bass is perfect which makes for a good balance. And the smell! Have any idea what this D15 smells like when you take it out of it's case? Just the smell of this solid wood Martin makes me fall more in love with it everytime I play it. The low-profile neck plays great and the craftmanship is all Martin. Perfect! I can say without hesitation that this is one fine acoustic guitar and find it hard to believe that a person can pick one of these up for under $600.00. The D15 is a high end dreadnought with a very affordable price and a guitar that I will be proud to own for many years to come. I wouldn't part with it and I have not one negative thing to say about it. Great tone. Great playability. Great construction typical of ALL Martins.

I too have owned several Martins, a Taylor, Gibsons, et cetera and am really pleased with my new Martin D15. Face it. They're giving them away for about $600.00 and how can you go wrong? They're every bit a true blooded Martin, not a imported knockoff. My dealer got two in and sold them both in one day. I was lucky enough to stop in during lunch to find it before someone else did. I tried it out with an old DeArmond soundhole pickup going through a Fishman Pro-Eq to the board and even with the crappy old pickup, it sounds great. I'm going to have a Fishman Matrix Natural pickup installed as soon as the local luthier gets caught up and then it will be ready to go out and play gigs. The nice thing is, I'm not freaked out about getting it scratched or dinged like I was with My pricey HD28VR. This is a workhorse, not a museum piece. It plays easily, it sounds great, has a heavy duty tolex case and it was cheap. And it's backed by Martin's full warranty. What's not to like?

I usually play electric guitar, and I needed an acoustic guitar to work at home and write songs with. The very affordable price for a Martin guitar plus the all solid mahogany construction seduced me (the included good quality hard case too). I like the sound of vintage guitars, and this one seems to be going to become better with age like red wines. The quality of construction, woods, playability, and sound are very good; especially if you're not looking for jewel appearance. When you play soft the sound is very sweet with warm harmonics and no aggressive highs the bass are very good and the sustain surprising. When you play hard the power is there and the sound and sustain are amazing for this range of price. You can feel the vibrations in your breast. The original strings are not the best choice for me (a bit too bright and metallic when played hard), and for the moment I'm looking for some others (advice welcome). It's a guitar for serious beginners as well as confirmed players, when I play it, it's difficult to stop and my ears seem to discover each time some new and secret shades. She can play every style. A very good budget guitar and a long time partner. Not to show-off but to play.
