I bought this guitar a few weeks ago and as usual with all the Martins I have owned this guitar did not disappoint. The sound is great and so is the very playable neck. Guitar is amazingly light but very loud. Only problem that I see that might cause concern with some people is the grain of the mahogany top has some unusual patterns. However I find it unique and makes my guitar one of a kind. Great value for a solid top Martin. You cannot go wrong.

I recently purchased this guitar from Music123 based on a few factors including price, legendary Martin quality and sound, and other reviews around the web. I couldn't be more pleased! I currently own an older D-28 along with a few low-end Martins including an X Series 12-string and a couple little Martins for the kids. Because (I have to admit) I worry about tearing up the D-28, I wanted something much less expensive that I could haul around and not stress over as much. Getting a Martin was a given, and I really wanted something fully wood that was also made in the good ole USA. I considered a different style, but eventually came back around to the dreadnought style that I am comfortable with. After looking far and wide across the net, I ended up on on this website with two to choose from - the Martin Custom D Classic Mahogany and the Martin Custom D Classic Rosewood. I chose the Mahogany because a) it was $100 less expensive, and b) my D-28 is rosewood and I wanted to try a different wood. I am really glad I went with the Mahogany. This guitar simply sounds great! It is very basic (which is fine with me), and is extremely playable. It weighs less than any other guitar I have (aside from the little Martins), but has an extremely full sound. When I first opened the case, the smell of the guitar reminded me of Christmas (and still does). I plan to have the saddle and bridge pins change out to bone just to see what see will really do. Sweet guitar for flat-picking, finger-picking, and just strumming - it really fills up a room. Thanks again Martin for another quality product!!
