Marshall MG30DFX ComboMG30DFX
Utilizing radical technologies, the MG Series raises the sonic and performance standards of value-for-money guitar amplifiers. The exclusive FDD (Frequency Dependant Damping) technology accurately mimics the way an all-valve amp interacts with a loudspeaker, giving the MGs a width of sound never before possible in affordable, non-valve amps. All models feature a CD input, emulated Headphone jack and Line Out jack.
30 Watts of power and a custom-voiced 10" speaker gives the MG30DFX all the girth and grind of its bigger brothers in a compact, rugged package. Footswitchable Clean and Overdrive channels with independent tone controls add to its already impressive features.

This is a great combo. I got it for Christmas, and i cant stop playing! This Amp Rocks, and i can almost wake the block up with it. the effects are digital, but they sound tube, even with the FDD switch off. The FDD switch does a good job emulating the valve depth. Its clean channel has a super sweet Crunch! It also has a cool CD in, so You can PA! 5 stars!
My best friend got one of these amps, and I thought it was so good that I got one. I think this is the best amp you can get for the money. You can get loads of different sounds on this amp, from a blues style crunch to a heavy 80's metal tone. I don't use the DFX much apart from the reverb, which is great. It really makes a difference. I just keep it on all the time. The CD input is an excellent feature. I use it instead of my hi-fi speakers a lot of the time. If you are in a band with a loud drum kit, I would go for the 50 watt version, because I have mine on full volume and can't really hear my guitar well, and the sound quality doesn't sound as good on a high volume. But if you need a good quality practice amp that is a great deal for the price, buy this amp now. And you should get a channel footswitch as well, I didn't and I regret it a lot.
It is so easy to find the right tone that you need. From rock n' roll to heavy metal. From Zeppelin to Motorhead you can sound like the greatest for such an affordable price. And the thing is that you don't need a good guitar. Though I would prefer this amp to the metal heads, it is still good for other kinds of music too. Something that you can and should get is a Footswitch. I would prefer the Marshall PEDAL 90004. One button changes the clean to the overdrive. The other button turns on and off the DFX. I found out that it is the loudest when you got the effect Chorus on ten and the contour on zero. Well what else can I say, I have been playing it constantly and is is the best amp you can buy for the money, period.
This amp sounds wonderful. It's also very loud for only being a 30 watt. I purchased this bad boy along with a Digitech rp200a and I've never heard a better combo for practicing/small gigging. Definitely good for any beginner to intermediate guitar player. This beast rocks all my friends 20-30 watt amps, it is oh so worth the cash.
I've tested both the MG15DFX and MG30DFX and bought the MG30DFX but am now rethinking this and considering going back for the 15. The MG15DFX, MG50DFX and MG100DFX all allow you touse the Line Out and still hear the amp's speaker. The MG30DFX does not! Why does this matter? Because you may want to run a line to the PA and still be able to use the amp to monitor with on stage, or use it for controlled feedback (stage or studio for that matter.) Also, to my ears the MG15DFX seemed better for sustained leads. But the MG30DFX was better forchords. The 15 had a high frequency fizz in ituntil the volume on the overdrive channel was at about 12 o'clock when doing chords. The trebleknob made it worse. On the other hand the MG30DFX's controls were more useable (Contour did more, treble know was more usable). But some of that might be the difference in the speakers.Another loss of function going from 15 to 30 isthat the 15's clean channel gets to use the Contour knob, same as the Overdrive Channel. On 30 the clean channel has it's own tone knobs, butno Middle or Contour. Also, a minor nit, but the 30 is the only one of the bunch that's open backed. Makes it a bigger dust collector and protects the speaker less. In any event, it's still a great amp. Just wish I could use the Line Out and Speaker at the same time, and that it had a closed back.
