I'm not nuts about solid state but this is all I could afford. Just the same I can make any amp sound good. It took a while to get the MG100HDFX to sound good, but, with a little work this half stack ROCKS!! The MG100HDFX half stack is the way to go if you have a little time and patience to work with it.
This is a great amp right from when you get it. This is an excellent amp on clean and dirty channels. Excellent for recording and playing gigs, even huge gigs if you mic it. Overall a solid amp and I would recommend it to anyone looking for a genuine Marshall.
i was not used to the solid state sound at first.but i started adjusting the built in effects and loved the sound.ive used alot of other amps and my wife even commented on the clarity of the distortion!! the half stack is worth the money for what you get and looks awesome!!!!
I HAVE BEEN PLAYING FOR A LONG TIME SINCE THE 60"s. owned or played about every amp out there. i come up with the tube amps,and to tell you the truth, the soild state amps is the BEST thing they all did. you go broke replacing all those tubes. beleive me , this marshal amp,sound and tuffness is what you need. from a old rock player.
I was very surprised out how great this Amp sounds. Straight out of the box, with no effects pedals, it made my Strat sound like Alex Lifeson's guitar. The emulated output allowed me to send the Marshall sound straight into Sonar 4 and record tracks over each other. The built in effects are very nice although individual controls would have been nice. The footswitch was included! I am so happy with this amp I am saving up to by the other 4/12 straight cabinet to make it a full stack.
