They suit my needs just fine. I've just got to learn not to be such a klutz...I dimpled the tweeter as soon as I opened up the box. Had to order a new one...if you dimple the tweeter, it really kills the hi-frequencies....
Right when I opened it I dimpled the tweeter. Luckily it didn't do anything to the sound. It plays back my recordings perfectly. I even use these moniters for my iPod. The woofer is amazing with great bass. My only suggesstion is to make sure you have a 1/4 in cable.
I've been playing and writing music for years, but am new to the desktop recording scene. I was getting what I thought was pretty good mixes though a small PA system, until I heard them through the DX4's. WOW, What a difference! The mix is soooo much clearer, making it easier to accually hear what needs to be tweeked and what doesnt. I was suprised at the amount of low end bass, and the stereo separation is excellent. If your on a budget, but still want good quality monitoring, you can't go wrong with these.
