This is a great little box that turns your PC into a limitless guitar effects dream! I recommended purchasing the full version of D-Sounds GT Player 2.5, but with JamLab the price is almost half. GT Player Express will give you 6 stomp boxes with full effects settings and 20 or so presets. The upgrade to 2.5 will give you 16 stomp boxes that you can chain together in series as well as playing in stereo with over 100 presets. You can arrange your own effects however you'd like and save them as presets as well. LetÆs not forget the session drummer (drum loops) this box comes with that will help you with your timing. I'm a computer technician by trade so make sure your PC is up to spec and cleaned of any adware or viruses that may affect the performance of this software. Also please make sure you defrag your hard drive before and after installation. You will need to disable your screensaver and power management software before you begin to jam for this software will over ride D-sound while playing your guitar. This product works so well that I now have it piped to my stereoàyes thatÆs right my stereo! With the right cables from Monster Cable or Radio Shack you can pipe the JamLab to almost anything with an amplifier. My JamLam is hooked from my computer to my Adcom preamp via 1/8ö to RCA cables, an Adcom 100 watt amp is powering a pair of KEF reference series 104/2 which sounds better than any amp you could ever hope to buy! I wouldn't recommend this product to anybody, unless you're looking for a cheap alternative for an amp. Basically, you get what you pay for. The sustain is very weak. It is impossible to have it pickup tapping or light picking. The effects included are OK, but there is really no use for something like this. YOU CAN'T RECORD & EXPORT! Which is totally lame. You can only playback your recordings in the included software. I'd go with a Toneport instead.
This is a really simple little usb interface with adjustable gain to power guitar pickups. The ASIO2 drivers get the latency down to usable levels on even my underpowered laptop, no problem. THIS IS NOT PLUG AND PLAY, and THIS IS NOT PROFESSIONAL GRADE EQUIPMENT. But it is fairly easy to install, simple, small (like, in-your-pocket), cheap and a whole lot of fun. 1) Make sure you download the latest drivers and install them BEFORE you plug it in. (I took away a star because of the bad m-audio driver on the CD - get it together guys!) 2) Play with the gain and latency to get the best settings for your guitar/computer. 3) Plug some good 2.1 speakers into the jamlab's headphone jack for a really nice wide-range sound - beats my practice amp any day. BTW: For those looking to use other software, I tried this with Guitar Rig 3 with no problems (obviously you have to route it).
