I needed spare recorders for my students to use when they forgot their own but price and durability were factors in my decision because I was paying for these instruments myself. The plastic used in the Lyons 1 Piece instrument has a solid feel. The recorder blows easily. It's not a 'skinny' instrument as in some brands that I've previously purchased. 1 piece construction is ideal for 8/9 year old students to stop busy hands from twisting joints and wearing out tenons. The gold color plastic carrying bag is attractive to youngsters eyes and adds to the 'coolness' factor of having a musical instrument to carry around.
