"Portable tone champ!"

I own a few of Line 6's high end modeling pedals and couldn't play and record my experimental style of music without them. The pocket POD is no exception to the Line 6 legacy of tone and sound quality. This would be a great device for pros, hobbyists and novices. To practice through headphones without disturbing neighbors or roomates is a snap! One could potentially buy one of these for practice and avoid an amp alltogether, the AC adaptor would be a wise investment though, as even an expensive lithium set of AAA's maxes out at about 5 hours of play time. The library of sounds is pretty great. Some of the presets designed by notable players in popular bands lacks some though. Some settings are merely novelty effects collections meant to "WOW" the teenage guitar lesson crowd. Otherwise there is a formidable array of adjustable sound in this tiny thing. I have heard complaints about USB connectability and software issues but I have never bothered to try, I'd rather just play around with it's built in settings, though saving your own patches is pretty basic. The interface and functionality of knobs and buttons takes some practice, but if you can capably log onto the internet, you'll do fine. The housing is light and constructed of cheap plastic, so I keep mine in a padded pistol case with my other big Line 6 devices. You could clip it to your guitar strap and walk around the house using it as a fantastic headphone amp, in fact this might be where it excels the most. Packing massive sounds into a tiny case. Well worth the initial pricetag, even if used just for fun and practice. I have actually recorded with it, pumping it through the bizarre Line 6 FM4 pedal creates some literally sickening sounds that are perfect and desirable for my brand of ambient noise and unconventional metal. I wish the unit itself was constructed maybe of aluminum and built a bit more sturdily, but I have NO complaints about the sound quality and battery of tones. Worth the cash!

"Super Product, Super Fun!"

I recently got this Pocket Pod for Christmas, and I tried it out as soon as I could. It has numerous choices of sounds that are great. The Pros: 1. Great Sounds 2. Many sound choices 3. Very portable 4. Easy to control 5. Able to download sounds from customtone.com 6. You can connect it to your computer and (if you have downloaded it) you can control new and old sounds on the computer 7. (Although I haven't tried it yet) You can create your own sounds, etc. The Cons: 1. If you haven't got them yet, you need two guitar cables 2. You may need a few packs of AAA batteries because it eats batteries in a few hours. In short, this is a super product and it is super fun! I highly recommend this super product!

I've never used a sound processor before and am very impressed with what this small, compact unit can do. And you can upload sounds that you've made or download unique sounds that others have made. I have only started to delve into the many options this thing has. Well worth the price.
