Ok I just wrote a review earlier and it was really for the POD PRO rack unit. I just downloaded the "Rack Unit POD XT version2" manual from Line6.com (I suggest doing that) and am currently reading. It appears that the Editing issues I have with my PRO have been addressed in the XT Version 2 model. Lot's of Stomp box type effects too. WOW!!! I still think that there should be Blank banks at the beginning 1-64 for storing new user created banks so that you can keep the original presets (unchangeable) in banks 65 through 70 (which don't currently exist). I still believe in POD and when Line 6 makes the unit like I have described (and I believe they will someday) I will replace my POD Pro unit. No Question. Hopefully they will keep the:*Modern Class A û modeled after 1996 Matchless Chieftain,*Line 6 Clean with Compression,*line 6 Twang,*1995 Mesa Boogie Dual Rectifier Head*1989 Soldano SLO Super Lead Overdrive*** *Dumble Overdrive Special Drive*Mesa Boogie Mark IIC+ Drive Channel,*Line 6 Crunch #2 with Room Reverb û modeled after Plexi + more tone range. I don't think I can live without them anymore! If anyone has input about this item and can give me some feedback on my issues please feel free to email...please do!
Let me start by saying I absolutely love this unit. The Most expensive floorboard is a must though for live situations. Even if you only find ONE amp model that you use on a regular basis it has paid for itself AND it weighs a lot less. For live playing you can hook it up to any amp (Better if amp has an effects loop or line in)and sounds virtually identical to a host of Classic MUCHO EXPENSIVE amps. Soldano, Matchless, Dumble, Marshall...etc. JUST WOW!!!!!!! The tuner is great too! That being said: Line 6 Should give you the 36 presets Channels that never change as banks 37-72 and then repeat these "presets" as user changeable channels 1 through 36 where you can change and tweek the sounds...shuffle the order around do whatever, without worrying about loosing the 37 through 72 bank factory presents. The way it is designed, in order to shuffle banks around to your liking, you HAVE to sacrifice one of the presets. POD is not user friendly as far as manipulating the effects for each amp model (chorus, distortion, etc.) you have to "Deep Edit" in your computer rather than right there on the unit. I want to manipulate right there on the unit, save in a user bank, and move on knowing the original is still in one of the 37 -72 factory presets. All things considered the Positives FAR outweigh the Negatives. - Seaside Jimmy
I've always wanted to get my hands on the rack mount pod pro, but I am glad I waited. The pod pro xt puts guitar players in guitar heaven. The technology that went into this unit is awesome and the effects and cabinet combinations are endless. It is the perfect unit for both studio and live performances. I like the feature of sharing tone files online too! This opened me up to a whole new world of sounds. Sounds that I don't have to spend a lot of time in tweaking the equipment to find. This is what sold me. Pod pro xt will keep me content for a very long time.
