This is my second distortion pedal and it is the best. You can get the sounds of korn to jimi hendrix on this pedal. For someone that doesn't know what to buy, this pedal is definitely worth the money.

I've tried a variety of Boss and Marshall distortion pedals before I bought the DM4, and none of them had the type of 'heavy' I was looking for. Being a purely lead guitarist the 'Rat' distortion alone made this pedal worth buying - I've never heard my ol' Jackson guitar scream like this before. The Proco Rat was one of the original metal pedals and is guaranteed not to disappoint even the toughest critics. The DM4 reproduces the original sound flawlessly. The MT-2 model sounds EXACTLY like the original so before you go blow your money on one of those consider getting the DM4 instead. The Line6 distortion is the type of heavy sound I was looking for - its great for all of your death/doom/black metal needs, rhythm and solo alike. The only issues I have with the DM4 is that some of the models (mainly the fuzz one's) have WAY too much treble - if I turn my amp up more than half-way my ears almost start bleeding from the tons of treble. the overdrive models are real good for bluesy rock tunes.a big bonus was the detailed instruction manual containing the history of all the modelled pedals.to conclude: if you don't like this pedal - PLAY A DIFFERENT INSTRUMENT.

I have had this pedal for a few months now. Normally I wait a year to really know how good a product is. But I had to let that slide this time. I play thrash, death, and just reg heavy metal, along with some punk and a good amount of EMO sounding guitar licks. I can get some really brutal sounding distortions out of this. Sounds good on my fender Princeton 65 and also sounds good on my new Crate GLX 212 120watt. The crate is a diff story. It is easy to use and figure out. you have an assortment of different distortions and effects to choose from. Can get the sounds of Coal Chamber guitarist Meegs Rascon out of it or can get thrash metal of along the lines of Slayer and Pantera out of it. This pedal along with my DOD death metal pedal and solo channel on my Crate drive my two bands and my playing.

This pedal is excellent. I am able to re-create any type of distortion available. This pedal has sixteen pedals built into one and you can adjust them accordingly. Save four custom sounds at a time. I am able to re-create any DOD/BOSS distortion pedal.
