I needed a delay pedal for my guitars badly and after some research I came to the conclussion that the DL-4 was the right delay/echo pedal for me. Paired up with my Marshall AVT 20 amp and Fender Standard Strat, the DL-4 has become the perfect tool for recording in my make-shift home studio or jamming with my buddies. With so many options (16) you are bound to find more then your fair share of delays/echoes to fall in love with. You can emulate classic tones with the Tube Echo, Tape Echo or my favorite classic delay, the Multi Head, which is based on the Roland RE-101 Space Echo (trying findind one of those). Don't stop there you have 13 other options including the Loop Sampler. Hit record, play a sweet lick, press play and hit the reverse button and watch everyone in the room freak out. I can go on forever about this pedal, luckily for you I wont. So, If you are looking for a delay/echo pedal with tons of flexibility get the Line 6 DL-4. John Frusciante loves it and I love it. Get it now.

Crystal clear sound. The only digital pedal I've heard that doesn't color the guitar's tone. Easy to program, and I don't have to reprogram it between songs because it has 3 memory banks. I'm going to buy either the filter modeler or the modulation modeler next.

"Great sound and options, not enough for me"

This is a great pedal, many delay options and great sound. I would recommend this for studio applications but for live performances I have doubts. There are two things that are missing here for me. First, external tap tempo, the tap tempo switch that is included in this pedal is very uncomfortable to use. There is a mod on the internet that you can do to add an external tap tempo switch but you have to modify (and drill) the pedal. The second thing is missing manual mode. If I have a saved setting on a switch that I am using, next I change a value in some of the knobs and then switch off the effect and finally switch on the effect, everything goes back to the saved sound and I lose the change I made. This is a huge poblem for me. I finally decided to change this pedal for a Boss DD-20, it has fewer options but it has external tap tempo and manual mode. The thing I am missing the most of the DL-4 now is the stereo delay it has that the Boss DD-20 hasnt.

This pedal is so cool. It's worth the cash even just for the ridiculously long loop sampler time (14 seconds - 28 @ half sample quality!).I already have one and am about to buy another (first one currently in storage...).It can be used in a studio setup or live. It is a very flexible delay/sampler once you master the customizing of each of the effects.

"One of the better delays out there"

I love this pedal. I am sort of a delay junkie and have tried many of the delay pedal offerings by Boss, Digitech, Marshall, TC Electronic, EH, etc, and this is one of my favorites. I use it along with a Boss DD-20 (as I like having the delay locked in to a tempo for some tracks) but the versitility of this pedal is amazing. Simple clean delays to super spacy mods that just sustain for days.... its all there and I love it!! Great buy for the money and would be a great addition to almost any pedal board.

If you are in the market for a delay pedal, look no further, you have found the best their is. The Line 6 DL4 delay pedal is made for the pro's and used by the pro's. I toyed around with several different loop pedals before discovering the DL4. There is one thing that sets it apart from all of the rest.... Always having to turn knobs to get a delay at the correct tempo seemed almost opeless to incorporate that type of sound in a live setting. However the DL4 has a tap-tempo pedal on the lower right side. This feature allows you to tap the tempo of the delay with your foot, to the tempo of the song. This allows you to change the tempo of the delay without ouching a knob! It an amazing feature on a delay pedal for someone who likes to play live shows. There is also a loop feature on the pedal. This eliminates the need for an additional loop pedal on stage (so go ahead and sell yours, and invest in a DL4). Overall, all around high quality pedal, made to last, made for professional live sound, recording, easy to use, made like a tank. Don't buy another delay pedal, this is the last one you will ever need.
