Kustom Amplification, originally known for its upholstered Tuck n' Roll amplifiers which were an icon of 1960s and '70s rock music, has unveiled its first guitar amp "stack" design. Called the QUAD Stack, the set-up features an amplifier head based on the critically acclaimed Kustom QUAD 100DFX amp, but with a stage-ready, 100-watt power output and a few neat surprises.
  • 100W power
  • 2 channels (Lead & Rhythm)
  • 2 lead preamp modes (Grind/Punch)
  • 2 rhythm preamp modes (Fat/Lean)
  • Dual 3-band EQ
  • Lead gain boost
  • 8 effects (24-bit digital)
  • External speaker jack
  • Auxiliary input
  • Footswitch jack for channel and effects switching (footswitch optional)

Quad100Head

Using all-analog circuitry, the amp head (QUAD100-DFXHD) offers several preamp choices. Starting with the Lead Channel, players can select between "GRIND" and "PUNCH" preamp voices, as well as a selectable volume boost mode with "BALLS" and "BIGGER BALLS" controls. The high-gain lead preamps are designed to offer intense, and yet articulate, musical distortion timbres with solid fundamental tones for concert stage applications.

The Rhythm Channel delivers two primary preamp voices labeled "FAT" and "LEAN." The former offers a big, round guitar tone that lovers of classic clean tones will really appreciate. The LEAN preamp kicks in a sparkling tone with an enhanced high- and low-end frequency response commonly associated with Class A amplifier designs. Lead and Rhythm Channels may be selected either with the QUAD footswitch or via the amp's front control panel.

To provide uncommon flexibility, the Kustom QUAD 100 also provides eight, 24-Bit Digital Effects. Now, studio-quality effects such as Chorus, Flanger, Tremolo, Reverbs and Delays can all be easily dialed up for onstage use.

The Kustom Quad 100HD is a very well built am head that delivers great sound. The best thing to do is not to compare it with something that cost twice as much money. For most guitar players who play small to medium venues. When this head is plugged to a 4X12 speaker cabinet, you won't worry about being heard. If you want more sound. I have it plugged to a Crate 4X12 cab and a B-52 4X12 cab. When played like this, it will peal the paint off of your walls. The amp has a good clean sound and the reverb is not bad. I use pedals so I'm not much into effects on the amp. However, if you wanted to use this without pedals. You will get great distortion, or other types of sound by setting the knobs. I recommend buying a noise gate, there is a buzz when you play it dirty. This is a great buy and a solid sounding amp. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars. It is heavy, and this adds weight to taking the head to gigs.

This head is really great. The clean is good and the distortion is amazing. It is classic rock sounding. I like putting an overdrive pedal over distortions because it's just got that sound to it. Kind of like a Zakk Wylde thing. So if you are looking for great tone with a little bit of work than this amp is amazing. I got it with the cabinet and I have not been able to complain once. I mean it's no Marshall, but for the money it's more than worth it.

"Great Amp For The Price"

I have played on all kinds of amps...Mesa Boogie, Marshall, Crate, Fender, and Line 6. I would rate my Kustom right up there with almost as good a sound as Mesa Boogie, but half the price. The on board effects are great but subtle if you don't have your own. My only problems with the amp are that you can't overlap the onboard effects and the footswitch doesn't have a light indicator to let you know which channel you're on.

I recently purchased this awesome head. The one thing that attracted me (before I plugged a guitar in) was it's FULL SIZE. I was so tired of all those half stacks that are "compact" cuz they look like a 2x12. The cleans mean what they say, clean" even at the volume of 7. The FX are not the best, but the only FX I use are delay and chorus. The distortion is nice for Les Zeppelin Jimi Hendrix ac/dc kind of stuff if you want a heavy metal distortion buy a Zakk Wylde or a Digitech distortion pedal. The foot switch doesn't come with it, but it's not that big of a deal. I use this amp for live shows. I think that the gain is called balls and bigger balls on the distortion channel. This thing can easily be compared to the Marshall AVT-50 with effects and it looks way cooler. Best Half stack I've very played I also run my Digitech RP300a through the FX loop and it works great.

Bought this head to use with a Behringer 4-12 cabinet that I picked up as a B-Stock for $160. So for a little over $400 I got a half stack that really rocks. Head has very good tone and is extremely loud. Head is very clean even at high volume. Distortion is not bad. Good for classic rock stuff. For new insane distortion I run a Digitech pedal into it and it sound incredible. Best value on the market.
