This has been hands down the easiest recorder I have ever used before. I have placed it between the stage and mixer, and it works great. I can record the entire worship service at once and later mix/master the music on the recorder or on my computer. The sound is great and more dynamic than CD quality, so that shouldn't be a concern. My main problem is the trim controls are somewhat suspect. I run my vocals through a tube preamp and the 1/4" line-in has decent gain from the preamp to the d888, but the XLR inputs have a terrible gain. I have to crank the trim at least to 90 percent for decent volume and a decent signal to the house mixer. It doesn't sound like much, but distortion can become a problem if the trim is set to high, and you just don't have a lot of room to work with. Other than that small gripe, the unit is amazing and sounds really good. The reverb and echo effects are spot on and sound way too natural to believe. Overall my demo and worship CD's have never sounded better than on the d888, and it takes less time considering I can record 8 channels at once. Don't overlook the fact that you can record live and not affect the house sound. That in itself is worth the price.
