Very simple and clever sound adjustable cup mute. Without felt rings the sound is metallic, add rings (it comes with 2 rings) and the sound gets warmer, without influencing intonation or resistance. I often use the smaller felt ring in combination with a Jo-Ral straight for soft solos in my orchestra. Overall, pitch is slightly flat, which is normal for a cup.

I like this mute. Buy it! It has a really great sound and everyone at the conservotaire here use it. No other type of mutes can possibly be compared to this unique "piece of art". I love it.

I have owned three cup mutes in the past, and this one outplays them all. After I sat on my old cup, I decided to increase my price range. This mute does exactly what Jo Ral says it will do, which is interesting for mute makers. All say that their mutes play perfectly in tune, but this is the first cup mute I have ever played that is really in tune in all registers. I can even play in the low register, which I thought was impossible with cup mutes. Of course, the tuning of the entire instrument will be off, as it is with any mute, but after an adjustment every note is in tune. The inserts create a less penetrating tone and using both is very quiet.
