I just received this mute in the mail and the first couple of notes I blew through it told me it was amazing. This mute has excellent response, projection, clarity and the perfect straight mute tone. The copper bottom makes a huge difference. Do not consider any other straight mute other the Jo-Ral 4C. It encompasses all registers extremely well. It's superior to any other mute I've tried. Low Db's C's and B's pop out fine. The mute affects the intonation so insignificantly that no one would even notice but if you felt that you needed perfection, a SLIGHT relaxation of the lips will put every note right into place. This is a keeper!
