I just bought this mute today. It plays on my Strad like heaven! It also reduces the full sound of trumpet so my parents won't get stressed or annoyed when I practice. This mute produces "Quack" sound like a duck, and it's VERY jazzy. Awesome mute.

completely worth every penny of the price. this is the absolute best straight mute on the market, especially since it is copper. it has incredible intonation, wow. i recommend this to anyone

This is a fantastic mute. My private lessons teacher has about 4 or 5 different brands of straight mutes including this Jo-Ral. I've tried all of them. This one is the best. Also, I have bought the cheaper fiber or wood mutes before. This is 100% better. It is worth the extra money. It has a great sound. It keeps a great tone and response even when playing very quiet or legato. It is very open and free blowing/ it doesn't constrict the air flow through the horn. It is also built very well. The aluminum is thick and strong; it doesn't flex or dent like some of the other mutes I have tried. The cork pads are nice. One other feature is a felt strip that is at the neck of the mute. This keeps the mute from scratching your bell. Great quality and workmanship. What more could you want?

This is far and away the best straight mute out there. It produces an unmuffled sound, with a tremendous amount of color. It's not stuffy, possessing great response. Possibly the last straight mute you will ever have to buy.

Heavy weight,warmer sounding version of the all-aluminium mute, for situations where the all-aluminium version is a bit to penetrating. Tuning and resistance are superb! For other details see my review on the aluminium version. You should have them both!
