The Mercer Box is a serious tone control tool. I don't use it for distortion at all but it is great for dialing in the right frequences to make your speakers bloom. No hiss or any noise at all. This is a great pedal and edition to any pedal- board. I recommend using it with a 4/12 cabinet because combo amps have a hard time reproducing all those complex frequences.
