Best Keyboard amplification available. Great for sequencing one man gigs, and sounds great with a band.
I bought two of these powered speakers to hear my Yamaha Motif ES8 keyboard in the choir loft, and decided to hook up the CD player and try them out with my choir (We use a lot of split track accompaniments). The whole choir, as well as myself (the choir director), can hear so much better that I do not want to go back to using the choir and stage monitors controlled by the FOH board. The clarity of the EON 15G2's is phenomenal! I ended up buying a Peavey RQ2310 mixer that has lots of outputs just so I could have complete control over this new choir monitor system. Now I am able to to send several pre-fade signals back to the FOH board where the sound man can control sound and EQ levels for the house sound without effecting the choir monitors! The JBL EON 15G2's are the heart of this system. They are the most incredible speakers I have ever heard. Some of the low organ pedal tones actually rattle the windows in my church -- but the sound in the monitors never breaks up. Pay for these speakers. It's well worth the price. There is more constructive information that is easily accessed, about the JBL EON 15G2's on this WW&BW site than any other site I have visited. The link to download the manual is very helpful. As soons as funds are available I an going to purchase two more of these to replace what is now hooked up to our FOH mixer.
The 15" G2 sounds great, is built well, and is easy to transport. DO get a bag for it: the molded cabinet will scuff easily).
Who would think that a speaker as light as these are, could produce such a heavy sound?? I use my set as stage monitors, and since have halted any complaints from fellow group members concerning not being able to hear themselves. The best feature of the JBL, in my opinion, is the 400 watts of ultra clear sounds these babies can produce. They even make great mains in smaller churches and such. They are handsomely constructed, and appear very modern (almost space age) looking!! Another great feature that I especially liked is all the inputs available. You got your XLR and also two line level inputs, add to that a high and low graphic mixer, and you can get this thing to sound exactly the way you need it to. This is a great setup for studio use, or small to mid size groups on the road.
