I bought this pedal for the envelope filter `auto wah` effect, with little regard for the 2 synthesizer effects. The bottom line is that, for its price and size, it gives you a reasonably funky wah effect. I was aiming for the Bootsy Collins sound, and though this pedal isn't good enough to reproduce his sounds exactly(he used a mutron iii), it`s pretty good and fun to play around with. It has a level control, which is very important because a bass can easily die in the mix when you add effects. The synthesizer effects are fun to try out. You can get the sound Flea has on `Sir Psycho Sexy`. I was hoping, though, that I could get a real keyboard bass tone, but what you really get is a distorted wah. Not a clean synthesizer tone. Anyway, unless you can afford a Mutron III, go for it. This is the best stomp box Envelope Filter I`ve tried.
If you like a lighter synth sound for your bass, this pedal is the way to go. I have tried the Boss synth and the Digitech synth wah and have found that this is the most practical pedal for live performances, and its a lot cheaper than the Boss syb. Try the other Ibanez pedals, they are all great.
