In the mid-70's, virtuoso George Benson had a vision of the cutting edge features a jazz guitar needed to survive in the new world of amplification and the durability it would need to survive on the road (which his expensive traditional boxes were having a tough time doing). Twenty-five years later, this modern jazz classic is our longest running signature model.
  • GB neck dimensions
  • 3-piece mahogany/maple neck
  • Maple back and sides
  • Carved spruce top
  • Ebony bridge, tailpiece
  • 20-fret bound ebony fretboard with pearl inlays
  • Two Super 58 humbuckers
  • One strap button behind the tailpiece (strap can be tied to neck or another pin can be installed)

GB200

For most jazz guitars, once the volume goes up, the beautiful jazz tones go down, the tubes that is. But not with the George Benson signature series of electric guitars.
Floating pickups, a thicker top and a smaller body help to reject feedback while a special ebony bridge transfers tone from strings to the top. Furthermore, the die-cast tailpiece allows separate tension adjustment of treble and bass strings.

Beautiful. The tone is smooth, round and full from neck and bridge. Tone pots from top to bottom are clear and musical. No mud here. Frets are well rounded and clean and compliment the action. With flatwounds it is like being the skater on new ice! Smooth. The finish is just gorgeous. I finally found the tone I've been looking for. I'm tremendously impressed

I've been playing jazz for a couple years and this guitar has got to be one of the best. I love the pickups and everything else. It sounds very nice and has good balance and looks nice too.

This guitar is a real gem. Overall workmanship tone and playability is almost as fine as my D'Angelico NYL 2. (which cost a grand more) It's a lot more versatile than the NYL2, because the electronics are much more sophisticated (2 serious pickups, etc.) the brown sunburst is beautiful, I like it a lot more than a traditional sunburst. (not those loud orange overtones) The ebony bridge is really nice. The tuners are excellent. You simply can't go wrong with this guitar. The pricetag could be a grand more and still would be worth it. It has a solid spruce top and real maple back and sides. It produces pretty good acoustic volume as well not as much as the DA NYL2, but remember the the GB 200 has a 16" body not a 17". the 16 is a much more comfortable size in my opinion.
