I bought this horn two years ago, and I have never been upset with it. It has a beautiful tone. It is a very comfortable instrument. The valves are unbelievably SMOOTH when oiled (I use the Holton oil that comes with it!). The instrument sounds as great as it looks. I've play-tested a few different brands before, and I was uncomfortable with all of them except this one. I just think Holton horns are magnificent.
Getting this horn has helped me improve GREATLY!! Being only a sophomore in high school I have achieved 1st chair at honors band & district band! First part at regional band! And I'm going onto State's! This horn is one key to my success! Thanks Holton!
I just purchased this horn for my 11 year old after doing much research. This horn was highly recommended for young students being that it is affordable and the metal is stronger than that of imports. My daughter could not be more thrilled with this horn and says the sound quality is good and that Holton is known for the high quality of it's valves (she researches too). Her teacher was very pleased and a local music store said that this horn is very good quality. If you are not looking to spend a lot but want a quality horn that can handle what a young person may put it through, this is the one. I believe this horn will take her through high school.
I have owned a Holton H378 for three years. The horn itself is solid,though the intonation is not the best and the tone could improve. One of the best qualities of the horn is the rotary valves. When oiled they are quick and smooth.I am looking into the purchase of a new horn but am not considering Holton as one of my options!! Overall I give this product three stars.
I bought this instrument last month. It is very reasonably priced compared to its outstanding quality. The horn has perfect intonation, very tight, fast action lightweight valves. It has very bright and singing sound. Besides the horn is very in tune. It has excellent low notes and easy to sound. It is an ideal student horn.
