I just got two in "F" and "G". These harps are very airtight. I play a lot of 2nd position cross-harp. I think it is going to take a little while to break them in. They seem to take a little more effort to bend compared to my beginner "Pocket Pal" Hohner. Probably thicker reeds, which should mean longer lasting harp. The sound is noticeably smoother than the Pocket Pal. I think I like my Lee Oskar just a little better, because it is more "bend-friendly" right out of the box.

I took up this instrument when my keyboard was submerged in Katrina flood water along with my home. I had the HOHNER Bluesband in my pocket when we evacuated. And for 30 days in a Red Roof Inn, I experienced enough success to order the Special20. I ordered the D key for Christmas on Dec17th. With the mail very erratic since Katrina, it did not get here for Christmas. The Customer Service people 2 dayed a C key(I did not know most exercises were in C. So, now I have both. What a great difference in ease of playing from the old(uncared for)Bluesband. This is a "for real" instrument. I love them both. And thanks to Music123, I can play The Eagles & rock with the D and,Rascal Flatts with the C. I am not knowledgeable enough to know why one sounds better and is easier to play with different types of music. I truly have found a pastime that I can enjoy. And, I've gotten good enough my wife ASKS me to play. Thank you so much. My whole family was professional musicians. I learned a true appreciation for music even though I chose a different way to go in life. Thanks again,Glenn Scheuermann

I have been a harmonica player for the past 9 years. I only play Hohner Harmonicas. The Hohner Special 20, fits perfectly in my hand as well as has the most beautiful tone, even with HARD play. This harmonica is for everyone. From Blues to Folk to Classical. It can't be beaten!

The Special 20 is my main harp. It fits my style of play. I wish Hohner would make them in minor keys too! (Hint, hint)I used to play Marine Bands but the Special 20 comb allows quick movement w/o tearing up my lips. Tone ranges from deep clarinet-y chalumeau sound to high and flute-y. Works for me.

I've played the blues on a lot of harps and I go through most of them like they're toys. For the price, you can't beat the Special 20. The plastic doesn't warp or dry out from playing and it holds a rich sound for those "crying' blues" Most harpists that I know in the Kansas City area use the Special 20. You're gonna trash some reeds so you need a harp that's not too expensive. That's another reason the Special 20 is so sweet.
