Product Detail

Hohner 532/20 Blues Harp Harmonica
Diatonic harmonica reeds produce the notes of the scale to which they are tuned. For example, a diatonic harmonica tuned to the key of C would produce the natural notes of the C scale without sharps and flats. (Picture the white keys on a piano, without the black keys.) Each hole has two reeds; one plays when breath is exhaled (blow) and the other when inhaled (draw). The individual reeds are each tuned to play a different note on the scale.

This mouth organ is beautiful and has a lovely bluesy sound. But, after not a lot of playing, it began to make awful "bad saxophone" sounds on the sixth hole. I was due to make a Christmas performance and had to go out and get a cheaper plastic one and use instead. I was put out.

"brass&wood in opposite of sax" by mike lynch

Plastic core on most new style harps are not bad. I have used many. when it comes down to favorite tone though, I always choose marine bands... I think a lot of newer players use plastic core harps because they play too wet and marine bands swell up if you don`t blow dry. It takes a little time to learn to blow dry. I think the tone of wood + brass is IT. You know its gonna sound good no matter, plastic or wood if its a good player, but that wood has an extra edge. They say angels play harps in heaven but on earth we honk on them.......

"Great sound, but short life." by Brian

This harmonica gives the best sound of all the harmonicas I've tried in the past, but the reeds blow out pretty quickly, especially if you do a lot of bending. If you're mainly concerned about the sound you get, this is the harmonica to buy.

The tone blown through the wood makes a beautiful sound. It goes with any style music, and it's smooth.

"Blues Harp in a winner!" by zephyrazure

I just acquired an MS Blues Harp in key Ab/G# from Woodwind & Brasswind (https://www.wwbw.com/). What a lovely harmonica! Before I even played it, I like the look & feel in my hands. The plates are slightly more rounded than the Marine Band and cups in my hands beautifully. And, oh my, the warm, rich sounds it emits is fantastic! My rendition of "Michael Rows the Boat Ashore" on this harmonica sends chills... For the money, the Hohner Blues Harp is a winner!
