This is a very good quality mute. It performs well in the middle and upper register, but not very well in the lower register, not that there is much call for this type of mute when playing low. I thought the intonation was excellent . I have been involved in pit orchestra situations, and this mute was great with the stem out for quiet warm ups, and a pracitice mute at home. I love the sound i get with this mute. So, go ahead and add this to your arsenal of trombone stuff, and have fun.
