I purchased my Guild D-55 two years ago. It is a 2006 model and was one of the first to come out of the Tacoma facility. For action, fit and finish you will not find a better guitar for the price. This is the Sunburst model and it is absolutely gorgeous. No finish mistakes whatsoever. Now for the most important reason to buy this guitar...the sound. It is acoustic soul juice. You can pick it soft or attack the strings, it keeps a consistent tone at any volume. The spruce/rosewood is a classic tonal combination and it shows through here. The electric side performs well plugging into a direct box and has good, hiss-free tone that is not "quacky" sounding like cheaper electronics. You can really tell that it is an acoustic plugged into the PA. This guitar is worth every dollar and you will be able to pass it on to your grandkids as an heirloom some day.

"Best Guitar Ever!"

I purchased my D-55 in 1980. It was perfect right out of the factory box. The sound has always been clean and bright whether playing in front of 1 or 1000 people, the tone and balance of the instrument did not falter. I would recommend this guitar to everyone serious about music.
