A Rock standard: Lightweight, incredible playability, and the tone that launched a zillion riffs. Takes the best of the '62 original and adds the longer and sturdier neck joint of the late '60s models. Hot humbuckers go from rich, sweet lightning to warm, tingling waves of sustain. Silky-fast rosewood fretboard plays like a dream. Tune-O-Matic bridge and chrome hardware.
  • Double-cutaway beveled mahogany body
  • Set mahogany neck with rounded '50s profile
  • Bound rosewood fingerboard with trapezoid inlays
  • Tune-O-Matic bridge with stopbar tailpiece
  • Chrome hardware
  • 490R humbucker in the neck position
  • 498T humbucker in the bridge position
  • 2 volume knobs, 2 tone knobs, 3-way switch
  • 24-3/4" scale

Gibson SG Standard Electric Guitar
The Gibson SG has been screaming since 1961.

Classic tone, classic looks
That was the year that Gibson changed the Les Paul Custom body style into a sharply pointed double-cutaway. This radical new design featured a thinner, bolder shape and was given the name SG for solid guitar.

The SG
Gibson's new solidbody, the SG, broke through traditional concepts of solidbody electrics and became an instant classic. The SG body style has remained in production since its first appearance in 1961.

In my 30 years musical experience I consider that I should own an SG and a Les Paul plus a strat and a tele. I managed so by adding 2 years ago an SG std black. The result is that the strat was forced to be sold, the Les Paul -though it is a great guitar- is about to be sold mainly to the heavy body. Maybe the tele will be hold a second option. The SG sounds fantastic. My play field is mainly R and B and rock. Playing the blues, I discovered a better fat bluesy tone with sustain and while playing rock I managed to improve my speed. The fret board is very "comfort" and the large frets help a lot.The greatest surprise was yet to come. A fellow of mine who is a jazz player and "archtop body" lover tried my SG to play some classic Wes' tunes.... I could not imagine that a solid body guitar could play even better than an expensive 335 or super 400. get one

The Gibson SG is the guitar by which all others should be judged. It is incredible to play and the sound is amazing.

There is no better guitar in the world. I have played Fenders, Esps, other Gibsons, just about everything, but nothing even comes close to this guitar. It has the smoothest and fastest playing neck that I have ever played in my life. The sound is awesome with incredibly good distortion and the cleanest sound I have ever heard. Plus it looks awesome. I don't think there has ever been a better guitar.

I bought this guitar a week ago and it is simply amazing in every aspect. The tone is incredible from jazz to blues to metal and back again. Clean, this guitar is equal in every way to a Les Paul and the super sustain is truly something to behold. Plus the SG is so much lighter than the Les Paul it's like a hummer and BMW... sure, they are both nice, but what would you rather drive? Best electric for any price end of story.

Nice and light, very easy to play, you can play fast riffs and low chords without any obstruction. And the price is unbelievable low!
