The L-00 dates from an era of pre-World War II small bodied flattops, when Gibson produced L-0, L-00, and L-1 guitars as lower-cost alternatives to its more expensive models. A favorite with blues and ragtime players, the L-00 defied both its low-end price tag and diminutive construction to produce a warm, smooth, appealing sound. The 1937 model in particular stands out as the first L-00 to feature a bound top and back, and it is now lovingly reproduced in the Gibson Legends series.
