I bought this cable over 5 years ago, and throughout touring and tough, brutal abuse the only thing I have ever had a problem with were the 1/4" connectors. I ended up replacing both ends probably a year after I bought it. Ever since then I have had absolutely no problems what so ever with this cable. Minus the connectors, this cable is a great buy.
Well, I bought two of these because they're A) braided (I prefer braided cables) and B) Fender (Good brand name, shouldn't be quality issues). Well atleast I was right on one account. Both cables lasted two days each before shorting/opening. I went to resolder the ends and discovered that Fender had stripped back the + wire back so far that it was in direct contact with the -. I'm unsure as to how the cables ever worked at all. Now they're 1" shorter each but they seem solid as a rock now, so be forwarned you may have to resolder these cables. Hopefully I just got a "bad lot". FYI, put some dishwashing soap on the braided cable to get the heat shrink to slide down.
When it comes to making something new that looks vintage and works like vintage, Fender and Gibson are the main two which excel in this area.
This is a great guitar cable, and it goes very good with Les Pauls. They match my gold humbuckers soooo well =). It looks and feels like thick rope, if u wanna buy a new cable, get this, it lasts long and is very durable.
