Fender American Deluxe Series Telecaster Electric Guitar
The Telecaster is an undeniable force in all styles of guitar-based American music and the Fender American Deluxe Telecaster Electric Guitar is the top of the Tele chain! It offers stunningly accurate noiseless vintage sounds through two Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups, as well as new variations through the versatile S-1 switching system. Its highly detailed fret and nut work make it incredibly easy to play. Other features include a bound-top alder body with a comfortably contoured back, abalone dot inlays, and aged plastic parts.

S-1 Pickup Switching
Fender s trademarked pickup switching system that allows the guitarist to keep single-coil sounds while eliminating the noises. On most Strat models, when the guitarist selects pickup position 2 (neck and middle pickups) or position 4 (middle/neck), the two pickups are combined with parallel. This parallel wiring produces the "in-between" tones that Strat guitars are famous for. (see in-between tones). With S-1 pickup switching, a guitarist can place pickups in series by using the push-pull switch located in the crown of the master volume knob. Wiring two single-coil pickups in series produces the sound of a humbucking pickup with reduced high frequencies and more midrange. Positions 2, 3, and 4 also include a capacitor that further cuts the high frequencies for an even fatter, rounder humbucker sound. For example, position 2 with the S-1 switch down has the neck pickup wired in parallel with the capacitor and in series with the middle pickup.

Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickups

It's no secret that pickup designers have been striving to develop the ultimate noise-free single-coil replacement pickup. In pursuit of as little 60-cycle hum and extraneous noise as possible and the classic bell-like tones and fidelity of the original Fender designs, Fender has poured their energy into discovering a world-class pickup for the ages. With open minds and a willingness to seemingly question everything, Fender partnered with legendary pickup designer Bill Lawrence. The pickup that was birthed from this extraordinary partnership is the Samarium Cobalt Noiseless pickup. It has no hum, no microphonics, close to zero magnetic interruption of the string path, and the widest sonic parameters possible - from Fender classic single-coils to tones not yet imagined. Truly a revolutionary design in guitar pickups.

I have owned this guitar for about a year now. Have played several shows with it . Worth every penny I paid for it. Great tone, great looks. The S-1 switching is ok . It changes the tone somewhat , but was not a buying factor for me anyway. It played Ok out of the box but I had it set up at a local shop. Always best to get the best setup possible. The Tele country twang is there. Having the right amp and setting really makes it sound even better. You get a great sound for rock and blues also. Playability is top notch. The only tele any better, tone wise, in my opinion is a custom shop. If you have 3 to 5K to spend , that is what I would get. But if you don't, this one lives right next door in the high end neighborhood.

I've owned a few Tele's before and this one is by far the best. It has "Playability" that is beyond fabulous. The only downside are the pickups, which I replaced.....it is now my #1!!! I did add Fender Schaller locking tuners too. Cool thing is Music 123 had everything I needed!
