The new 2004 American Deluxe Precision is a stunning piece of Fender's craftsmanship. With its P-style neck pickup and a Bill Lawrence J-Bass humbucker in the bridge position, coupled with a 18V-powered, 3-band active EQ, this gorgeous bass offers tons of tonal variations. Equipped with deluxe Lite-Bass tuning machines and a Deluxe string-through=body/top-load bridge, the American Deluxe P-Bass now comes shipped with new sexy finishes. A pretty example is the Montego Black P-Bass with the gold vynil anodized scratchplate: the maple-neck model looks much like an American Vintage '57 Precision, while the rosewood-neck variant, is faithfully modeled after the Custom Shop's legendary '59 P-Bass re-issue.
Man does this bass rock! Its beautiful and loud! The awesome classic Pbass tone of a Fender has never been better than ever. And with active electronics I swear you can get any sound you want. The finishes are all so beautiful, but I chose mine in montego black with a rosewood fretboard.
Bought a brand new one in 1996.Very good bass.Just the varnish that particularly flakes between the nut and the 5th fret (my bad I guess) but sandpaper it (400) and play again and again !
