The bongo heads have many audible textures that are distinct. You can use many combinations that have well defined tones. I especially love the crack-slap rim shots which-if done the right way-can sound like an edge hit on a timbale. Excellent also for environments with sudden temperature changes. These heads are much easier to tune especially after that short walk from the car to the stage during the winter.
